Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla told Singapore not to interfere with Indonesia’s tax amnesty program.
Kalla regretted if the Singapore authorities was proven to make it difficult for participants to join the program.
“Singapore is not entitled to interfere. Moreover, Singapore applies free foreign exchange,” Kalla said in a press release on Sunday.
He added that Indonesia also embraced free foreign exchange system in which foreign funds can go freely in and out of the country.
Kalla went on to say the tax amnesty program is a step in the Indonesian government to forgive taxpayers who have not paid taxes.
Previously, banking authorities in Singapore reportedly made it difficult Indonesian citizens who want to participate in tax amnesty program.
