TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Riau High Court gave Saracen case defendant Jasriadi a sentence of two years in prison during the appeal hearing on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
The verdict given was heavier than what the Pekanbaru District Court gave, where Jasriadi was sentenced to 10 months prison time for breaching other people’s social media accounts.
Jasriadi’s lawyer Jasmar Piliang said he did not know the verdict. The attorney team, he said, has not received a copy of the court decision.
“If that is the verdict given, we will appeal,” Jasmar said.
At that time, Sri Rahayu’s Facebook account was being confiscated by the Police Headquarters on charges of spreading and uttering hate speech.
The prosecutors charged Jasriadi with violating the Electronic Transaction Information law by accessing the computers and/or other people’s electronic gadgets.
Meanwhile, the police accuse Jasriadi of producing hate speech content in exchange for money; obtaining millions. However, the allegations were not mentioned in the indictment.
