House of Representatives’ (DPR) Commission IX Deputy Chairman Saleh Partaonan Daulay urged the government to take note of labors’ demands during the international Labor Day or May Day which is celebrated annually on May 1.
“At least, [the government could] realize two demands,” he said in a written statement on April 30.
Saleh suggested the central government to at least realize one or two of their demands that they always ask every year. For example, he said, the demands of the improvement of their welfare and protection.
According to him, Labor Day must be a momentum for the government to improve labors’ welfare. He refused to consider the annual May Day rally as a mere ceremonial activity. Saleh, therefore, urged the government to fulfill the labors’ rational demands.
He also reminded that labors play an important role in the national development.
Saleh hoped that the May day rally today, May 1, will be held peacefully and orderly. He also reminded the police to perform their duties in a professional manner.
