In case you were looking for a reason to travel to the vast corners of the globe, the world’s 50 best restaurants were announced this week and the list spans almost every continent. From Tokyo and Copenhagen to Lima, Moscow and Santiago, the list covers places far and wide proving that the desire for good food is a global phenomenon.
As reported by Gourmet Traveller, Australia has only one restaurant on the list with Melbourne hotspot Attica taking out 20th place—this is a significant improvement, as the restaurant ranked in 32nd place last year. An Italian restaurant named Osteria Francescana took out first place, while London, Paris and New York were the top ranking cities on the list, each being home to four restaurants in the top 50.
In terms of highest ranking country, Spain has six restaurants in the top 50, and even more impressively, three of those were ranked amongst the top ten. See the full list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants below:
