Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Jakarta building was attacked with stones by anti-communist protesters at today 1:40 am. Some glass doors were broken in the process.
The police reacted to the attack by firing teargas canisters and deploying Barracuda cars to ward off protesters who gathered in front of the LBH Jakarta building. An individual in the building was injured by broken glass.
The protest, which should have ended at 6 pm, was staged against an event held at the LBH building accused of promoting communism. A day earlier, the police disbanded a seminar on 1965 tragedy planned by the LBH.
The event held on Sunday at the LBH building would have featured art performances but the protesters considered it as a continuation of the seminar.
