Anime Festival Asia Indonesia will return this year to the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran on Sept. 16-18.
The biggest Japanese pop-culture festival in Asia was attended by 60,000 people last year.
The I Love Anisong Concert, one of the events scheduled to take place at AFAID on Sept. 16, will feature popstar Alisa Takigawa. She rose to fame with the hit song “Season” featured in “the Seven Deadly Sins” anime. She’ll be joined by Aimer, ELISA, livetune+, motsu X KAYA, bless 4, Lia, Maaya Uchida and nano.
Cosplay, or dressing as icons from pop-culture, is strongly associated with the Japanese festival and attendees can see seven of the world’s top cosplayers — Julia from Taiwan, Japan’s Kaname and Reika, Hong Kong’s Siu Tao, Malaysian Ying Tze and China’s Baozi and Hana.
Cosplayers can enter the AFA Regional Cosplay Championship (ARCC) to find the best local cosplayer.
The event, its fifth in Jakarta, will screen four anime feature films — High School Fleet, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Kuromukuro and Qualidea Code.
The festival will also feature the unique AFA Cafe, a cosplay restaurant that is found predominantly in Japan with the theme “school uniforms.”
AFAID16 is organized by SOZO, Zepp Live, PK Entertainment and Megindo Group.
Tickets for AFAID16 are available from Rp 100,000 ($.7.60) for Daily Exhibit Pass, to Rp 650,000 for General Admission Concert Pass.
