Jakarta – The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed 40.19 kg of methamphetamine from Malaysia, Friday, January 26. The crystal meth was smuggled from Malaysia to Indonesia through Idi Rayeuk, East Aceh, on January 10.
The authority caught four suspects with the initial HR, A, J, and S in an investigation done after they received the information of a drug smuggling from Penang, Malaysia to Indonesia through Idi Rayeuk.
“The case has been finally discovered thanks to the cooperation of BNN in the center, provinces, and cities, as well as the Customs Office,” Arman said.
The meth was found scattered in several locations in East Aceh District. From the first finding, the officers confiscated 30 packages of meth measuring 30.01 gram from HR. Then, the BNN officers found 10.17 kg of meth from A, S and J in Nurussalam Regency, East Aceh.
The authorities, he went on, are still catching the international drug dealer and network controller.
Arman said the suspects got the drugs from Penang and headed to Idi Rayeuk by sea by using a fisherman boat. The handover of the drugs was done at night at around 23:00 in Malacca Strait or 3 miles from Kuala Bagok beach to avoid authorities and people’s suspicion.
The suspects are charged with Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics. “The suspects are facing a death penalty,” said the BNN official.
