Public Works and Public Housing Minister is accelerating the completion of infrastructure and renovation of sports venues and athlete dorms for Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang. Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the completion of infrastructure construction and renovation is on schedule.
“Overall, the construction progress has reached 60 percent,” Basuki told a press conference on Friday. He pointed out that the construction of hockey, archery and football fields are 97,6 percent complete. He is aiming to finish the venue construction this year and obtain certification from the International Hockey Federation.
Basuki explained that the construction and renovation of sports venues at Gelora Bung Karno Complex in Senayan are divided in to seven packages: the main stadium (AG 1); training facility (AG 2); swimming pool (AG 3); hockey, archery, and football fields (AG 4); renovation of Senayan Sports Center (Istora) (AG 5); indoor and outdoor tennis courts (AG 6); and madya stadium, basket hall and softball and baseball fields (AG 7).
Despite the tight deadline, Basuki ensures that the quality of construction and renovation work of the sports venues will be maintained. He said that he will personally inspect the construction in Jakarta and Palembang.
